About the Exhibition
Working in platinum-palladium printing and cast concrete鈥攑rocesses as physically demanding as the histories they hold鈥擯erez draws on the idea of quantum entanglement to explore how people remain bound to one another across time and distance. Made in the wake of losing his father and brother within the same year, and shaped by his enduring admiration for his mother, this body of work channels a sensibility of rasquachismo to render grief as a form of connection rather than absence. Perez's images and sculptures speak to the particular bonds of one family while opening onto broader questions of home, inheritance, and how cultural ties endure.
Antonio Perez: Entanglement is presented at the MVC Art Gallery in conjunction with , by , a constellation of exhibitions that feature the work of Brown, Mexican-American, Nepantlera, Mestiza, Indigenous, Chicanx, Mexican-Irish, Afro-Mexicana, Chicano, Latine, Undocumented, Oaxaque帽e, Yaqui, migrant, Guatemalan-Mexican, Salvadoran, Mexican-Filipino (Mexipino), Chapin, immigrant, undoc+, and Japanese-Mexican (Jaxican) photographers and lens-based artists.
