2025 Theme: La Lucha Sigue 鈥 The Fight Continues
This theme encourages artists to reflect on ongoing struggles for social justice, civil rights, and community empowerment, drawing inspiration from the enduring legacies of leaders like Dolores Huerta and C茅sar Ch谩vez.
Prompt
Students are invited to create visual and creative artworks that explore and expand on this year鈥檚 theme in innovative ways. Submissions might address, but are not limited by, the following:

Tributes to Activists: Works honoring individuals and groups who have dedicated their lives to fighting for civil rights and social change.

Community Empowerment: Art that showcases the strength and resilience of communities in their pursuit of justice and dignity.

Cultural Preservation: Creative pieces that highlight the importance of preserving cultural identities and traditions amidst ongoing struggles.

Art as Resistance: Explorations of how art serves as a tool for protest, resistance, and raising awareness about critical issues.
Artwork Guidelines
Students may submit a painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, digital art, poem/spoken word, and video with a brief artist statement that explains how your work addresses the theme.
- Three-dimensional submissions: no larger than 36鈥 wide x 36鈥 high x 36鈥 deep
- Written submissions: 250鈥500 words
- Recorded submissions: maximum 3 minutes
- Artwork must be original and human-made
- Artwork must have a physical copy provided if applicable (drop-off at Professor Johnson's office, HM 103-H)
Students providing written or performance submissions may be asked to perform or recite an excerpt from their piece at the Scholarship Ceremony. Physical art and copies of digital art must be dropped off.
